Model a Gun

Basically we are making a bunch of insets and extrudes on a 12 sided cylinder to start with the barrel.

Continuing with what is easy, in this case the clip

Beveling OUT is at 0.0 is like a reverse inset:

Another extrude

Another box ... rotate on LOCAL

Temporarily constrain vertices to move on edges to adjust the segment locations

Chamfer that back edge

These little holes are boolean’ed

Boolean union the clip and the rest of the gun

Convert to editable poly ... while you are at it, boolean union the barrel too

Putting a cylinder here ... intentionally keeping the poly count down, so only 12 sides.

You can use an FFD modifier to torture it into shape

This guy is a great candidate for a spline extrude. Once again I am keeping it low poly on purpose.

BTW a lot of you aligning can be helped by cnetering a new object’s pivot point, then using teh align tool

You could also make a spline outline for the grip, then use BEVEL instead of the extrude modifier

The sight looks like a tube

Extrude base of the sight down, boolean union, convert to poly.

These 2 little spring type guys, we can just make spline outlines and extrude

OK this is it booleaned. I also boolean cut the long shapes that cut into the sides. We could probably chamfer some edges for a higher res model but I don’t think that is appropriate for a low poly model.

OK here is our guy rendered. He still needs some work on the UV maps for the trigger and the sides.
