Masking for modeling part 2

Basic Process:

Draw a mask

Hold Ctrl and paint alpha on model

Use a small brush
RGB intensity controls mask opacity

Make sure texture is off

 

Note:

Ctrl Alt = subtracts from the mask

Move areas out
(or tweak in ZBrush 3)
Tip – use a large brush

Invert Mask

Ctrl-click on canvas = invert mask

Move areas in
(or tweak in ZBrush 3)

ZBrush 3.0,using the tweak brush:

Clear Mask

If you Ctrl-click-drag a little window on the canvas,
this will clear the mask from the model.

Draw

Use:

Inflate

Smooth

Zsub

Zadd

 

Tips:

Shift for smooth

Holding down the shift key while brush accesses the smooth brush

Alt for Zsub

This paints into the surface (subtracting)f

Holding areas in position

The mask can be used to hold in place an area of geometry while close by areas are moved.
