Metallic Reflections on flat surfaces

 Using the standard chrome map from max, we see a very boring result on a flat surface.

Lets look at the maps ...

 

 

Add a noise bump map ...

 

 

The settings for the noise will be intended to make vertical reflections on the surface ... this is achieved by reducing tiling on either X, Y, or Z, depending on your object. The noise SIZE is also important to play with.

 

 

Play with size and phase until you get what you want.
