Area Shadows The integrity 2, and quality 5, of the shadows are the defaults and are set as disc lights. The way to improve area shadows if necessary is increase those numbers as shown here [5 and 10, resp.] The dimension of the light area is also specified, and is in real world units. A general tip for area shadows: Turn jitter down, turn quality up. Try it but do what works.
Materials All are based on the architectural templates. There materials are designed for use with photometric lights and radiosity. The shade is a translucent material, a variation of the translucent paper. It affects the light color in the room quite a bit.

The render The render time was long, due to the translucent shade and the metal lamp stand. I am pleased with the soft area shadows.
