Camera Shots

A shot is any image or animation on screen, of any duration.

A very fast shot is called a flash-frame.

Here are some common shots. The various sizes are all relative.

Wide Angle, Extreme wide angle, or Establishing shot

Takes in a large areas. All characters visible head to toe.

Medium Shot

Closer to the action than a wide shot. Characters usually waist up or waist down.

Close-up, medium-close up

Character face, anything very close to action.

Extreme close up (ECU)

Just one part of the face, for example, an eye fills up the entire screen.
